Women’s ODI World Cup Schedule Released: India to Face Pakistan on October 5

Dubai: The match schedule for the upcoming Women’s One Day International (ODI) World Cup has been officially announced. The tournament will begin on September 30 and the final will be held on November 2. Host nation India will play the opening match against Sri Lanka at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Key Highlights:

Opening match: India vs Sri Lanka – September 30 in Bengaluru

Much-anticipated clash: India vs Pakistan – October 5 at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo

Format: Round-robin among 8 teams; Top 4 proceed to the semifinals

Venues: Matches to be played across Colombo, Bengaluru, Indore, Guwahati, and Visakhapatnam

Total matches: 28 league matches + 3 knockouts (2 semis, 1 final)

Defending champions: Australia, who begin their campaign on October 1 against New Zealand in Indore

Neutral Venue Model:

Due to mutual understanding between the Indian and Pakistani cricket boards following the hybrid model used in the last ICC Champions Trophy, Pakistan will play all their matches in Colombo, including the final, if they qualify. Otherwise, the semifinals and final will be held in Guwahati and Bengaluru, respectively.

Not qualified: West Indies (eliminated due to poor net run rate in the qualifiers)

Tournament Format:

Same as the 2022 edition – 8 teams play each other in a round-robin format.
The top 4 advance to the semifinals.
