Raighar, 8th Oct 2025: In Raighar block of Nabarangpur district, after nine days of Navratri celebrations, Vijayadashami (Dussehra) was celebrated with devotion and enthusiasm. As part of the traditions, Sindoor Khela (Vermilion Play) was observed at various Bengali puja pandals.
Women from Bharasundi D.N.K. village participated in this ritual on the day of the idol immersion festival. Following traditional customs, they offered vermilion to Goddess Durga, performed rituals, and offered sweet bhog (offerings) to the deity. They also applied vermilion to each other in a joyful and emotional farewell to the Goddess.
This ritual is an important cultural practice among Bengali women, who express their devotion and joy through Sindoor Khela, which was celebrated with great festivity. Dressed in traditional attire, the women performed traditional dances in honor of Goddess Durga, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
During this time, the puja pandal at Bharasundi D.N.K. village turned into a deeply emotional and spiritual setting, filled with devotion, music, and cultural performances.
