Bishoi:— In an elephant attack in Jahira Dunguri, located in the flood-prone area of Bishoi under Jodia Gram Panchayat, a woman lost her life. The deceased woman has been identified as Charamai Nayak, approximately 27 years old, originally from Kashipenta village under Luhakani Gram Panchayat. She had been living at her parental home in Gargadi village for an extended period.
On the morning of the incident, she had gone into the nearby forest to collect shiali leaves when she was trampled by a wild elephant. At the time of the attack, she was accompanied by her one-year-old child, who miraculously escaped unharmed. The woman died on the spot.
Villagers rescued the child and informed the Forest Department. Officials from the Forest Department arrived at the scene and have started an investigation. Locals have demanded that the district administration provide immediate compensation and take full responsibility for the child’s care and protection.
