Puri-15th July 2025 : A woman died on Saturday afternoon due to a lightning strike in Kharipadia village under Nashi Keshwar Panchayat, which falls under the jurisdiction of Kakatpur police station in Puri district.
The deceased has been identified as Khamini (aged 30), a resident of the village. It is reported that during the rain, she had gone to the field to bring back her cows when she was suddenly struck by lightning. As a result, she collapsed on the spot.
Upon receiving the news, her family members immediately took her to the nearest Bangurigaan Community Health Centre, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
There has been a general demand to provide immediate government compensation to her family.
