Jaipur, Dec 19:  Woman cadet Heera Shisha has successfully climbed the Goriechen peak in the Himalayan mountain range. The peak rises approximately 21,000 feet above sea level.

Heera, a second-year student of the English Department at Bikramdev University and a cadet of the 2nd Odisha NCC Battalion, has made her university proud. She qualified for the climb of the 7,000-meter-high peak through rigorous training. After her achievement, the university recognized her accomplishments and encouraged her to bring even more laurels in the future. Registrar Maheshwar Chandra Nayak offered guidance and support.

Heera hails from Lamtaput block, Guneipada village. Her father, Samara Shisha, is a farmer, and her mother, Ullas, is a homemaker. She is the third among five siblings.

After joining the Girls’ NCC, Heera was selected for the Mountaineering Course and sent by the NCC to Dibang, West Kameng district, Arunachal Pradesh, for the National Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS) program. She participated in a basic mountaineering course lasting approximately 25 days, with 75 cadets from across India.

Following the training, the expedition to Goriechen peak began. The peak stands at 6,480 meters (approx. 21,000 feet) above sea level. Despite harsh conditions and no supplemental oxygen, Heera reached the summit, demonstrating her exceptional skill and determination. The climb qualified her to scale peaks over 7,000 meters in the future.

For her successful ascent, NIMAS Colonel Ranveer Singh Jambhale praised her efforts and presented her with awards, certificates, and a citation. Colonel Rakesh Chandra Bharat, CO of the 2nd Odisha Battalion, also congratulated her. Today, Heera met the university registrar, ANO Lieutenant Santosini Munda, and other NCC officers.

Heera stated that she aims to climb peaks over 7,000 meters in the future, while continuing her studies alongside mountaineering. She expressed gratitude to her parents, the 2nd Odisha Battalion CO, and ANO Lieutenant Santosini for their unwavering support.
