Bhubaneswar: Some regions of Koraput and Kandhamal districts are still experiencing cold weather. Areas like Koraput, Semiliguda, Phulbani, and G. Udayagiri continue to feel the winter effect. However, in most other parts of the state, temperatures have increased. The night temperature in Semiliguda was recorded at 13.2°C, while in other districts, it remained above 20°C. For the past 15 days, dense fog has not been observed.
Since January 21, dense fog has been visible in coastal Odisha and some neighboring districts. The presence of a high-pressure belt over the Bay of Bengal near the Odisha coast has created favorable conditions for fog formation.
The highest temperature was recorded in Jharsuguda at 36.4°C, followed by Paralakhemundi (35.6°C), Malkangiri (35.2°C), Balangir (35.3°C), Sundargarh (35.6°C), Sambalpur (35.4°C), Bhubaneswar (33.6°C), and Cuttack (31.2°C).
According to Dr. Manorama Mohanty, Director of the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Center, the clear sky in recent days has allowed direct sunlight to reach the Earth’s surface, leading to an increase in daytime temperatures.
