Nabarangpur, 13th Nov 2025: The 114th birth anniversary of Saint Shri Durgacharan, a disciple of Swami Nigamananda Saraswati Deva and the daily director of the Nilachal Saraswat Sangha, was celebrated at the Nigamananda Ashram in Gandhinagar.
The celebrations began early in the morning with devotional awakening, prayer, morning aarti, guru pranam, shanti path, and Vedic recitations. The ashram president Narayan Panda read from the Nigam Grantha.
Among those present were senior devotee Er. Prakash Chandra Mishra from Bhawanipatna, ashram music sevak Prafulla Chandra Panda, decoration sevak Debadatta Samantaray, personal sevak to the director Ajay Kumar Dash, kitchen sevaks Damodar Behera and Niranjan Dash, and others.
In the second session, notable guests included social worker Jagannath Mahapatra, Taruni Majhi, writer Bijay Choudhury, retired professor and researcher Dr. Bijay Kumar Mishra, Councilors Sharmishtha Deo and Mamata Maharana, Rekha Bhounee from Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishva Vidyalaya, Girija Shankar Pati and Bijaya Amritamayi from Damanjodi, who all graced the event.
Ashram secretary Narendra Kumar Pal presented the annual report on the occasion. As part of the program, winter clothes were distributed to 41 poor individuals.
Other distinguished participants included Municipal Chairperson Kunu Nayak, Satyabadi Sadangi, Sarveshwar Patra, Hrushikesh Dash, Harihar Dash, Gopabandhu Bishoyi, Banku Bihari Bishoyi, and several intellectuals and dignitaries from the town.
Ashram members Pramod Kumar Sethi, Sudhir Dal, Phul Chand Bhatra, Bikram Dash, Phalguni Patra, and Saurabh Dash assisted in organizing and managing the event.
