Voluntary Worker Jayanti Selected for Prestigious National Award in Delhi

Malkangiri, 4th Sept 2025: Jayanti Buruda, a senior voluntary worker from Malkangiri district and the founder of the “Badididi” organization, will soon travel to New Delhi to receive the prestigious national-level Martha Farrell Award on September 20. She is being honored for her outstanding contribution to women empowerment.

During the selection process for this award, 100 women from 20 states across India were considered. Ultimately, only five women were selected, and Jayanti is the only recipient from Odisha. The other awardees include:

Gail Angmo from Ladakh

Tanaya Khera from Uttarakhand

Archana K. Kavita Namdeo from Karnataka

Dr. Prakash Thauki from Maharashtra

Jayanti has previously won several national awards, bringing pride to Malkangiri district. This latest recognition, where she stood out among 100 nominees, is considered a significant achievement after overcoming many challenges.

Her impactful work includes raising awareness among tribal women and girls about menstrual hygiene. Through the Badididi organization, she:

Educates girls in tribal hostels

Distributes sanitary napkins

Conducts sessions on personal hygiene during menstruation
