Jharsuguda, Feb, 14: An important workshop was held at the premises of the Zilla Parishad office under the auspices of the Odisha Government’s Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department.
The workshop was organized to create awareness about the newly formulated ‘Viksit Bharat – Rozgar and Livelihood Mission (Rural) Guarantee’, popularly referred to as ‘VBRG’ Act, 2025.
The primary objective of this mission is to fulfill the long-term goal of Viksit Bharat 2047 by creating sustainable rural infrastructure and ensuring guaranteed employment for workers in rural areas.
On this occasion, senior district administration officials were present and discussed in detail the framework of the scheme and its far-reaching impact.
One of the major highlights of the scheme is that, under the new guidelines, eligible beneficiaries will now be provided 125 days of guaranteed employment per year,
Instead of the previous 100 days.
The program mainly focuses on four key priority areas:
Water security and related activities
Strengthening of rural basic infrastructure
Creation of community livelihood assets
Various measures for natural disaster mitigation
It is noteworthy that the financial burden of the scheme will be shared between the Central and State Governments in a 60:40 ratio, which is expected to further strengthen and accelerate the rural economy.
