Kolanara: In Kolanara and surrounding markets, vegetable prices are skyrocketing, leaving consumers deeply worried. Traders claim that the rise in prices is due to a shortage in supply.

Local sources say that due to intermittent rainfall, a large portion of seasonal vegetable cultivation has been destroyed, leading to low production compared to market demand. As a result, vegetable prices have soared. Current market prices (per kilogram) are approximately:

Brinjal (Baigana): Rs60

Beans (Binasa):Rs120

Cauliflower (Phoolkobi): Rs80

Cabbage (Kalara): Rs60

Knol khol (Trikobi): Rs50

Cucumber (Kankada):Rs80

Ladyfinger (Bhendi): Rs40–Rs60

Snake gourd (Kunduri): Rs40–Rs60

Pointed gourd (Potala): Rs60

Ridge gourd (Jhudunga): Rs60

Bottle gourd (Boitalu): Rs30

Vendors are deciding the day’s selling price for each item in the early morning based on supply.

Farmers say that due to various issues in agriculture, many of them are now shifting away from vegetable cultivation.
