Bhubaneswar, 25th Oct 2025: Industrial development is set to accelerate in Odisha as the Vedanta Group plans to invest Rs1 lakh crore in the state. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi stated that nearly all projects under this investment will be game-changers for the region, creating 1 lakh employment opportunities.

As part of the “Samruddha Odisha” initiative, Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal met the Chief Minister at Lok Seva Bhawan on Thursday. They discussed in detail the capital investment plans for the state. The Chief Minister assured that the government would provide all necessary facilities, from land to water, for Vedanta’s projects.

Key Projects and Investments:

  • In Keonjhar, Vedanta will establish a ferro-alloy plant worth Rs2,000 crore.
  • Vedanta will set up two aluminum parks in Odisha, which the Chief Minister called a game-changer for the state’s future development.
  • In Dhenkanal, Vedanta is planning a large-scale aluminum smelter plant with an annual capacity of 3 million tonnes. The company will invest Rs1 lakh crore in this mega project.
  • After discussions with the Chief Minister, Vedanta confirmed that the land will be provided next month, and work is expected to start within 3 to 4 months of receiving the land.
  • This plant will generate 30,000 to 40,000 jobs, and the project is expected to be completed within 3.5 years.
  • The modern ferro-alloy plant in Keonjhar will involve an investment of ₹2,000 crore by Vedanta.
  • The Chief Minister emphasized that these projects will play a major role in the state’s industrial growth, and Vedanta will work closely with the government to ensure their successful implementation.
