Nabarangpur At the Nabarangpur College Auditorium, the “Vandaniya Baraputra” program was organized on the thirteenth day of the Odia Week celebration. The chief guest at the event was Additional District Magistrate (Revenue), Bishwajit Charman. The program began with worship rituals, followed by a collective garlanding of the portraits of the revered Baraputras (great sons of the land).
Dignitaries present on the stage included Nabarangpur College Principal B. Govinda Rao, former Odisha Sahitya Akademi member Ashok Pattnaik, Bulu Hota, District Information & Public Relations Officer Manoj Kumar Behera, and District Culture Officer Ghasia Harijan.
Organized by the District Culture Department in collaboration with the Odisha Sahitya Akademi, the event was moderated by Professor Sambu Hota. Special discussions were held highlighting the dedication, sacrifice, and ideals of the legendary Baraputras of the Odia community, emphasizing their role in preserving Odia identity. Inspired by their legacy, the audience was encouraged to take pride in being Odia and work towards preserving the culture, tradition, and heritage of the state, and to promote its reputation both nationally and internationally.
The chief guest, Additional District Magistrate Bishwajit Charman, highlighted the noble works and life philosophy of one of Nabarangpur’s great sons, Sadashiv Tripathy, and urged everyone to strive in their own way to bring glory to the district.
In the event, seven essayists presented their self-written papers on the lives of notable figures such as Sadashiv Tripathy, literary personality Bhagirath Patra, revolutionary Ravi Singh Majhi, poets Tripurari Tripathy and Manjughosh Tripathy, Chhanda poet Raghunath Pattnaik, and language artist Mani Ram Gand.
Poets, essayists, and writers from almost all blocks of the district participated, reciting their own compositions. A total of 36 poets and 7 essayists presented their original poems and essays. All participating poets and writers were awarded certificates.
