Puri, A delegation from Nabarangpur submitted a memorandum addressing various civic issues. On Monday, members of the Nabarangpur District Citizens Committee met the newly appointed Executive Officer of Nabarangpur Municipality, Ashok Kumar Karna, and apprised him of several pressing issues concerning the urban area.
Under the leadership of Committee President Jagannath Mahapatra, the memorandum highlighted:
Mismanagement in waste and garbage disposal, and irregularities in public toilet maintenance.
Complaints that municipal workers, who are engaged in sanitation work, are demanding excessive charges.
As per norms, waste from all 17 wards is supposed to be collected by garbage trucks and transported to the site near the RTO office. However, garbage is instead being dumped near the water tank in the residential area of Gabrielguda.
Butchers are discarding animal waste at the site, creating unhygienic conditions.
The sewage tank cleaning vehicle is also reportedly charging excessive fees.
Road construction projects in the town have been lying incomplete for a long time.
The committee demanded completion of pending works and resolution of all complaints.
Executive Officer Ashok Kumar Karna assured the delegation that necessary action will be taken regarding their demands.
During the memorandum submission, other committee members present included:
Pradeep Sahu (Spokesperson), Kishore Pattnayak (Joint Secretary), Srinibas Patra (Treasurer), Executive Members Swarnalata Pattnayak, Kishori Pattnayak, Jagannath Baghe, Sharata Dash, Vivekananda Panda, Sajjad Ali Khan, and Sirajuddin Ahmad, President of Nabarangpur Bar Association.
