Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to Be Honoured with ‘Kalinga Ratna’ Award

Cuttack: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has been nominated for this year’s prestigious ‘Kalinga Ratna’ award. The award will be conferred during the 45th annual celebration of the Sarala Sahitya Sansad, to be held on Tuesday, the 15th of this month at 3:30 PM at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack.

As informed by Sarala Sahitya Sansad Chairman Dr. Prabhakar Swain and Editor Dr. Niranjan Tripathi, the award will be presented to Shri Pradhan by President Droupadi Murmu, who will grace the event as the chief guest.

The award comprises a silver idol of Goddess Saraswati, a citation, and a shawl of honor. Shri Pradhan holds a postgraduate degree in Anthropology from Utkal University, where he graduated with distinction. He is also well-known for his active involvement in student leadership and has earned repute as a successful student politician in both college and university politics. Over the years, he has held multiple ministerial positions, including Cabinet Minister in the Government of India.

It is noteworthy that the ‘Kalinga Ratna’ award is presented annually by Sarala Sahitya Sansad to a distinguished Odia personality who has earned national recognition in any field.
