Umerkote Panchayat Samiti Holds Independent Meeting to Discuss Local Issues

Nabarangpur: An independent meeting of the Umerkote Panchayat Samiti was held in the conference hall of the block office under the supervision of E.I. Sanket Nayak, in view of the state government’s “Vikshit Gaon, Vikshit Odisha Yojana 2025–26”. The meeting focused on resolving basic issues of rural people and the overall development of revenue villages.

Jhargam MLA Narsingha Bhatra attended the meeting as the chief guest. Among the distinguished guests were Group Development Officer Manoj Kumar Meher, Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Sushila Majhi, MP Representative Basanti Majhi, Minister’s Representative Ashok Padhi, Vice-Chairperson Samal Sarkar, and Zilla Parishad members.

The state government has approved an expenditure of over ₹6 crore in the initial phase for the development of the 26 gram panchayats under Umerkote Panchayat Samiti. Key focus areas discussed for prioritization included education, healthcare, transportation, drinking water, electricity, community halls, market stalls, and the revival of abandoned ponds.

Also present at the meeting were all junior engineers, sarpanches, Zilla Parishad and Samiti members, and various departmental officials of the block.
