Nabarangpur: A training and demonstration program on the CARI organic fertilizer model was organized in Badakumari village, Umerkote, by the Odisha Agriculture Department. Dr. Upendra Kumar is the chief researcher of this project. The Odisha government has emphasized the importance of organic fertilizers while highlighting the harmful effects of chemical fertilizers.
The program was coordinated by Dr. Upendra Kumar, a senior scientist from CRRI, and Dr. Biswajit Mandal, the principal scientist, who shared their insights. They demonstrated how NRRI’s decomposer can be used to produce high-quality organic fertilizer from paddy straw and its impact on reducing pollution and costs caused by chemical fertilizers.
Dr. Sashanka Lenka, the head of KBK Nabarangpur district, was present at the event. He elaborated on the importance of organic fertilizers in vegetable farming, explaining their benefits to the farmers.
Other technical team members and staff supported the program. Around 100 farmers and women engaged in agriculture participated in the event. Farmers from Ma Pendani Krishi Utpadak Company Limited, Umerkote, and Mouli Ma Maize Producers Company Limited, Jharigaon, also took part in the training.
