Umerkote: A living example of the sacred bond and devotion between a guru and disciple was witnessed on Monday. In a remarkable show of respect and dedication, disciples carried their ailing spiritual teacher on their shoulders for 30 kilometers to get him medical treatment.
The incident took place in Umerkote town of Nabarangpur district. The spiritual leader, Brahma Avadhoot Gauranga Charan Baba from Chhattisgarh, a preacher of the Alekh faith, is on a mission to eradicate superstition and promote world peace. He has been traveling through various villages in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh without using modern transportation, committed to walking for the rest of his life to spread his spiritual message.
Recently, Baba was staying in Badagaon village under Benara Panchayat of Umerkote block, where he had come for the establishment of an Alekh temple. On Monday, his health deteriorated. In response, around 15 of his disciples carried him for 30 kilometers on foot to Umerkote for medical treatment.
