Umerkote, : With increasing cases of diarrhea and vomiting across the state, the Nabarangpur district administration has intensified its efforts to control the situation. In light of the growing number of diarrheal deaths reported daily, proactive steps are being taken by the authorities.
Following the directive of the district administration, Food Safety Officer Arun Kumar Maharana along with officials from the health department today conducted surprise raids at various hotels, dry food outlets, and bakeries in Umerkote.
During the raid, the quality of food items being sold was inspected. Around 10 hotels and shops were raided today. Fines were imposed on several shopkeepers for violations.
In some outlets, the environment was found to be unhygienic, which drew concern from the officials. They were warned and told that further raids would be conducted, and if such unhealthy conditions persisted, the shops would be sealed, and fines would be collected accordingly.
The Food Safety Officer has instructed all businesses to sell only safe and hygienic food products to the public. Hotels were especially told to maintain cleanliness and not to serve stale food to customers.
These measures are part of a preventive effort to curb the outbreak of diarrhea and ensure public health safety.
