Jeypore,21st Aug 2025: A tree plantation program was organized on 18th August 2025 at the Sunabeda campus of Odisha Central University under the joint initiative of the University and the Rastradeep Broadcasting Committee. The aim of the program was to raise awareness about forests and environmental conservation.
The program was inaugurated by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Professor N.C. Panda. On this occasion, several dignitaries were present, including Professor Rathikant Kumbar from the Economics Department, NSS Coordinator Dr. Anjaneyulu Thotapalli, Forestry Department Associate Professor Dr. Subhasmita Parida, Public Relations Officer Dr. Fagunath Bhoi, and representatives from the Rastradeep Broadcasting Committee—Dr. Jalendra Tripathi, Dr. Surendra Kaor, Shri Chaitanya Hantal, and Shri Somanath Samantaray. Many faculty members and students of the university also participated in large numbers.
During the event, Professor Panda highlighted the importance of trees in maintaining environmental balance and their crucial role in oxygen production. He also extended his best wishes for the success of this initiative.
Around 10 saplings were planted during this campaign, which included medicinal plants as well, according to the university’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Bhoi. The program was coordinated and conducted by Executive Engineer, Shri Sriram Padhi.
