Keonjhar In Narasinghpur Majhisahi, under Nuagaon Panchayat of Keonjhar Sadar Block, a 63 kV electricity transformer was damaged by a lightning strike four days ago. As a result, more than 50 families in the area have been living without electricity.

After complaints were raised, electricity department officials arrived at the site and attempted to repair the transformer. However, they discovered that the internal coil was completely burned, making replacement necessary.

The lack of electricity has caused significant hardships for the residents. Children’s studies are disrupted, and people feel unsafe leaving their homes at night. Notably, this is the third time in recent years that the transformer in this area has been damaged.

Locals allege that the absence of proper electrical wiring and lightning protection devices is causing the frequent transformer failures. Sital Majhi, Rathi Majhi, Sunil Majhi, Mandu Majhi, Raya Majhi, and Purna Chandra Majhi, along with other villagers, have demanded immediate installation of a new transformer to restore electricity.
