Training and Book Distribution Program Empowers Beekeepers in Nandapur

Nandapur: A training camp and awareness program for beekeepers was organized on Tuesday at the Gomontari Honey Farm in Bispur village under Kikimput Panchayat of Nandapur Block.

As part of the initiative, awareness booklets were distributed to the beekeepers. The beekeeping community was informed about the Thai Sacbrood virus infection that affects honey bees, causing bee mortality in the hives. The Horticulture Department conducted an awareness session on this issue.

District Horticulture Coordinator (NRDMS) Bidyadhar Panda attended the program. More than 25 farmers from the Nandapur region participated in the session.

Under the state OUAT (Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology) Apiculture Unit-3, awareness booklets were distributed to the beekeepers. These booklets provide detailed information on various diseases and infections that affect bees and honey production, along with their respective solutions.

Prominent attendees included Nitai Dalei, Jagabandhu Khul, Tankadhar Sa, Jagannath Khusi, Gangadhar Haraj, Janardan Talab, Madan Bhirjala, Haridra Hantal, and several other farmers.
