Bhubaneswar, Dec, 30: Train fares have been increased and will be effective from 26th of this month.
For general class, for journeys over 215 km, the fare will increase by 1 paisa per km.
For Mail/Express non-AC, the fare will increase by 2 paisa per km.
For AC travel, the fare will increase by 2 paisa per km.
For non-AC journeys of 500 km, an additional Rs 10 will need to be paid.
With this revision, the railways are expected to earn Rs 600 crore in revenue this year.
No increase will be applied to local trains and Monthly Season Tickets (MST).
