Digapahandi , 29th Sept 2025: A tragic road accident occurred near Taptapani Ghat, a scenic spot on the Ganjam-Gajapati border, on Tuesday evening, resulting in the untimely death of a sports teacher after being hit by a speeding truck.
The deceased has been identified as Ramkrushna Panigrahi (32), a resident of Padmanabhapur village in Digapahandi Block. He was serving as a Physical Education Teacher (PET) at Pindiki High School under Mohana police limits in Gajapati district.
The accident took place near T. Govindpur, when he was riding his bike from Mohana towards Digapahandi. A high-speed truck struck him, causing severe injuries.
He was immediately admitted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Digapahandi in critical condition, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Upon receiving information, Patapur Police reached the hospital, seized the body, and sent it to Brahmapur MKCG Medical College & Hospital for post-mortem. Investigation into the incident is currently underway.
