Nabarangpur: A private bus overturned near Tara Gaon Chhak on the National Highway passing through Nabarangpur, resulting in one fatality and over 15 injuries.
The SB Travels bus was traveling from Raighar to Jeypore when it lost control and overturned on the roadside at around 8:30 AM near Tara Gaon Chhak. Govind Tripathy from Dabu village, a passenger, was crushed under the bus and died on the spot.
Upon receiving the information, police and fire brigade personnel arrived and rescued the passengers. The bus had over 40 passengers, all of whom sustained minor injuries, while 15 seriously injured passengers were sent to the district medical hospital. Three of them suffered severe injuries, while others received minor treatment and were discharged.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred because the rear tire of the bus burst, causing the driver to lose control, leading to the bus overturning. However, the police are still investigating the exact cause of the accident.
