Koraput, 11th Oct 2025: An elderly woman drowned in a pond. While going to relieve herself, she slipped and fell into the water, leading to her untimely death. It was as if death itself was waiting for her. Her family is now shrouded in grief.
This is what happened on Friday afternoon around 4 PM when 61-year-old Rukmini Bishoyi went to a pond near her village to relieve herself. She had no idea that this trip would lead to her death. While relieving herself, Rukmini suddenly slipped, causing her to fall into the water. Unfortunately, she was unable to get out of the water.
She drowned at the spot, resulting in her death. This incident took place in Dengakushuma village under Kundura block of Koraput district.
According to reports, evening had fallen but the elderly woman had not returned home. Her family searched for her for a long time but could not find her. Later, they informed the Baipariguda police station.
Upon learning of the incident, police officers and the fire brigade arrived and searched in the dark for a long time before finally recovering Rukmini’s lifeless body. The police took custody of the body and sent it for postmortem. Today, after the postmortem, the body was handed over to the family members.
