Paralakhemundi, 7th Oct 2025: In a tragic incident in Gajapati district, a man who had taken shelter under a rock to protect himself from heavy rain lost his life when that very rock took it away. The unfortunate event has come to light recently.
Since the onset of rain, Trinath Nayak, a 45-year-old resident of Basiguda village, under Basiguda panchayat of R. Udayagiri block, had taken refuge beneath a large rock. However, due to a strong water current from the nearby hills, the rock collapsed on him, crushing him to death.
After Trinath’s death under the rock, his family has been left devastated and helpless.
Block BDO Lariman Kharaseli has provided ₹20,000 to the grieving family from the Red Cross fund.
Additionally, the Chief Minister has announced ₹4 lakh as financial assistance for Trinath’s death.
