Jharigaon : A tragic incident occurred yesterday afternoon when a tractor overturned while ploughing hilly farmland, resulting in the death of the driver on the spot.
The deceased has been identified as Sahadev Muduli (27), son of Kusha Muduli, from Mundkhauda village under Chakla Padar Panchayat, Jharigaon Police Station jurisdiction.
According to reports, the tractor lost balance and overturned during the ploughing operation. The tractor owner, Bishnu Prasad Sahu, lodged a complaint at Jharigaon Police Station last night. Following this, Police Officer Pradeep Kumar Sabar dispatched a team to the scene. The police seized the tractor and the body from the site and sent the body to Jharigaon Community Health Centre for post-mortem. After the autopsy, the body was handed over to the family.
The investigation is being led by Investigating Officer Mamata Sethi, who stated that the inquiry is ongoing. The tractor owner, Bishnu Prasad Sahu, claimed he had no knowledge of the incident and said he had gone to Umerkote on some work when it occurred. He also stated that he had not instructed Sahadev to plough the field, especially considering the deceased did not possess a valid driving license.
Sahu reportedly learned of the accident upon returning to the village and then lodged a complaint with the police. A case has been registered under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the investigation is underway, according to IO Mamata Sethi.
On the other side, the wife of Sahadev, who is now left alone with two daughters, is devastated by the sudden loss of her husband. The incident has cast a shadow of grief across the local area. Sahadev’s last rites were performed at the village cremation ground.
