Sambalpur: There will soon be no more traffic issues on the National Highway passing through Sambalpur city. Road accidents are expected to reduce drastically. To address this, the Ainthapali flyover bridge will be expanded. Additionally, two more flyover bridges will be constructed at Bareipali and Remed. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has been approached to implement these measures to improve traffic management—something that had long been demanded.

Currently, the construction company is aiming to complete the work ahead of schedule. Raghuraj Singh, General Manager of ACS Infratech, stated that the first milestone of the project has already been completed two months early.

A proposal has been submitted for flyovers at Bareipali and Remed, with an estimated cost of around ₹50 crore. Approval is expected soon, and construction will begin immediately thereafter. Premnarayan Sahu, Project Director of the National Highway Authority, Sambalpur Division, confirmed this information.

The 6-lane flyover and railway overbridge at Ainthapali, stretching 3.5 kilometers, is currently under rapid construction. It starts near Sarla Jani and extends up to Panchagochia Bikash School. The alignment was later revised to include two key junctions: Bareipali and Remed.

With the current pace of construction, the project is likely to be completed well ahead of the deadline. Out of 32 planned pillars, construction of 21 is already complete, and work on 4 more is underway. The railway overbridge is also in its final stage, with only the top slab remaining. The first of four milestones in the flyover construction has already been completed two months early. The goal now is to finish the entire project eight months ahead of schedule.

Originally planned from Sarlajani to Panchagochia, the project was expanded to include two high-accident-prone junctions—Bareipali and Remed—which the Transport Department had already marked as black spots. The new plan ensures that vehicles coming from Bargarh and Deogarh will bypass the city via the flyovers. This will eliminate the entry of heavy vehicles into the city, significantly reducing traffic congestion.

Local residents will be able to move about safely and easily, and accidents can be effectively controlled. The 6-lane flyover from Ainthapali to Remed will not only ease traffic congestion but also improve connectivity along NH-53, especially near the Sarlakani overbridge, making travel much smoother and safer for the public.
