Malkangiri, 5th Sept 2025: Despite repeated appeals, the administration remained unresponsive — leading the villagers themselves to take matters into their own hands and repair a badly damaged road and bridge. This remarkable act of community initiative was witnessed in Jharapalli Panchayat under Malkangiri Sadar Block.
According to reports, the road connecting Rampur to Telimeta village had become almost unusable after a bridge on the route was destroyed during last year’s monsoon. Since then, the condition of the road had worsened significantly, severely affecting local transportation and daily life.
Even after multiple complaints to the district administration and the local MLA, no concrete action was taken. Tired of waiting, the villagers — facing increasing hardship — decided to act.
They volunteered their labor and undertook temporary repairs of both the damaged bridge and road, showcasing community solidarity and resilience.
While this collective effort has brought some relief, the villagers have urged the administration to take notice and implement a permanent solution immediately.
