Umerkote, 31st July 2025: In a heartwarming gesture of humanity, Additional Tahsildar of Umerkote, Nilambar Pujari, voluntarily donated blood to a critically ill patient admitted to the Umerkote Sub-Divisional Hospital.
According to sources, a resident of Bhubaneswar Paika Sahi in Bitaragada area under Umerkote Municipality was admitted to the hospital two days ago in serious condition. Upon examination, the doctors found the patient’s hemoglobin level to be dangerously low and informed the family that an urgent transfusion of B-negative blood was needed.
However, the local blood bank did not have B-negative blood in stock. Despite considerable efforts to locate a matching donor, the search remained fruitless until the Additional Tahsildar, Nilambar Pujari, who happens to have B-negative blood, stepped forward and donated his blood voluntarily to save the patient.
Thanks to his donation, the patient’s family felt a great sense of relief and gratitude. The selfless act of the officer has been widely praised in local circles and administrative circles alike.
