Kashipur: To address traffic issues, maintain law and order, and control crime, high-resolution CCTV cameras have been installed at various intersections in Tikiri, Kashipur Block. The cable connections and monitoring of these cameras are managed by the Tikiri police station. It is now being discussed that traffic violators—such as those riding bikes without helmets, driving four-wheelers without seat belts, or speeding—will no longer be able to escape the eyes of traffic control officers.

Since Tikiri is home to major industries like Utkal Alumina and another upcoming factory in Kansariguda, the area has become a key commercial hub with a railway station and nationalized banks, attracting people from different regions for various activities. A few days ago, two accused individuals from outside the state, who had entered Tikiri, were arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police from a local market.

During the arrest, shopkeepers along the roadside were initially frightened. However, they felt relieved after realizing that the plainclothes officers were indeed police personnel. Reports about the installation of CCTV cameras to monitor criminal activities and regulate traffic had been appearing in the media for some time. Previously, some cameras were installed by the block administration in certain areas, but due to a lack of necessary equipment and maintenance, they were not functional.

Although there was a delay, Utkal Alumina played a major role in setting up these CCTV cameras, for which local residents have expressed their gratitude.
