Dhenkanal,During a public grievance hearing held at the Kamakhyanagar Panchayat Samiti Hall in Dhenkanal district, residents of Mahuli village surrounded the District Collector in protest.
The villagers raised concerns about unregulated deforestation in their area, which they claim is causing environmental pollution and inconvenience in their daily lives. Despite repeated complaints, they stated that no effective action has been taken to resolve the issue.
It has been alleged that certain individuals in the village are illegally cutting down forest land for mushroom cultivation, leading to serious environmental degradation.
During the grievance hearing, villagers approached the District Collector’s vehicle to protest. In response, the Collector directed the formation of an independent team to investigate the matter, as confirmed by Sub-Collector Dinamani Nayak.
However, the villagers warned that if justice is not delivered, the situation could spiral out of control.
