Bhubaneswar, August 13, 2025 — Odisha has taken a significant leap in India’s semiconductor journey with the Union Cabinet’s approval of two cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing projects to be established in Bhubaneswar’s Info Valley. The announcement was made on August 12 under the Government of India’s ambitious India Semiconductor Mission (ISM).

- SiCSem Private Limited (in collaboration with Clas-SiC Wafer Fab Ltd., UK):
- India’s first commercial compound semiconductor fab
- Will manufacture silicon carbide-based devices used in electric vehicles, defense systems, and data centers
- Annual Capacity: 60,000 wafers and 96 million packaged units
- 3D Glass Solutions, Inc.:
- A state-of-the-art semiconductor packaging facility
- Backed by global investors including Intel and Lockheed Martin
- Will produce high-performance components for AI, defense, automotive electronics, and high-performance computing
National and State-Level Impact:
- These two projects are part of a ₹4,600 crore national investment package spanning Odisha, Punjab, and Andhra Pradesh
