Bhubaneswar,  Among the major issues faced by teachers and educational staff, grants and pensions remain significant concerns. In light of this, the Odisha Secondary School Teachers’ Association (OSTA) has demanded that grants be provided to teachers who have been working without salary, and pensions be given to those retiring empty-handed.

It is noteworthy that OSTA has been presenting these demands to the government for a long time to resolve the problems faced by teachers and education staff. However, as the government continues to make promises without implementing them, dissatisfaction among the teaching community is growing day by day.

As the Odisha government approaches the celebration of its first year in office, teachers are hopeful for positive action. Many teachers and staff who have been working for 25 to 30 years without salary are still waiting for grants, despite being qualified and employed in recognized schools.

OSTA has strongly urged the government to:

Immediately provide grants to eligible teachers and staff awaiting them,

Implement the High Court’s directive to offer pensions, full service benefits, and retirement facilities to those retiring or about to retire from newly aided schools who are currently doing so with no retirement benefits.

This appeal has been made by OSTA President Akshay Kumar Mishra, Working President Neelamani Purohit, General Secretaries Ranjan Kumar Dash and Braja Kishore Bishwal, Treasurer Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, and Education Editor Shankar Kumar Subuddhi.
