Jharsuguda –Dec, 13: A farewell felicitation ceremony for five teachers who recently retired from Lakhanpur Block Panchayat High School, Samarbagar, was organized on Sunday at the Pathapranta Suvidha Kendra premises, located in Kuremal Line Hotel. The event was organized by the school’s alumni association.
According to the information received, the school was established in 1987. The teachers who were honored had served the school for many years:
Shantanu Panigrahi, Headmaster, retired in March 2011
Mangal Prasad Bhoi, English teacher, retired in April 2023
Bihari Lal P. Patel, Science teacher, retired in May 2024
Yadumani Padhan, Mathematics teacher, retired in June 2024
Batu Padhan, Geography teacher, retired in August 2025
The grand ceremony, presided over by alumni Mahendra Bishwal, began with a traditional lamp lighting by the teachers. Students offered Guru Puja (worship of teachers) and shared memories, expressing their respect and gratitude. Many students were moved to tears while presenting the farewell.
The teachers, emotionally touched by the honor and blessings from the students, encouraged them to uphold truth and dedication in their own careers, contributing positively to nation-building. They also emphasized the importance of unity within the alumni association.
The event included cultural programs presented by former student Rajesh Singh. Teachers were escorted back to their homes in a grand procession through the village with full respect and honor. Local educators, intellectuals, and members of the alumni association highly appreciated the efforts of the organizers for successfully conducting the event.
