Bhubaneswar: The School and Mass Education Department realized the issue only after teachers struggled due to unpaid salaries. The salary funds have now been sanctioned to the accounts of 30 District Education Officers (DEOs). The Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) has released a total amount of Rs398 crore 32 lakh 82 thousand 3 to the DEOs’ accounts, instructing banks to process the transaction immediately.
Notably, Prabhudatta Sahu, an assistant teacher from Bandhanabahali village in Puintala, Balangir district, had not received his salary for three months. Due to financial distress, he had applied for leave to work as a laborer. He had even submitted a formal request stating his intention to do so. Taking leave, he started working as a daily wage laborer in the fields. Prabhudatta is currently serving as an ex-cadre assistant teacher at Bandhanabahali Government Primary School.
