Cuttack: As part of a survey that began on May 1 to identify school dropout children, teachers have been going door to door from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM collecting information. However, the process is facing hurdles, and teachers involved in the survey are growing increasingly frustrated.

Many parents are refusing to share key information such as Aadhaar numbers and mobile numbers, raising concerns about data privacy. Some homes remain locked, while others do not open their doors to the survey teams. Additionally, the mobile app used for data collection, ‘CTS-APK’, is not functioning properly on many phones, further impacting the survey’s progress.

Teachers have reported these challenges to education department officials and CRCs (Cluster Resource Centre Coordinators). The survey requires entering detailed information into the app, including the head of the household’s name, mobile number, data of children below 18 years of age — such as whether they are studying or have dropped out, their age, date of birth, and the name of the school they are or were attending — along with their Aadhaar numbers.

Due to the reluctance of parents to provide such sensitive data, teachers are facing significant difficulties. Some teachers have been assigned 200 to 300 households to survey, but many complain they are unable to complete even 20 to 30 households a day.
