Kantilo, 23rd July 2025: The long-standing shortage of teachers is severely disrupting education at Nilamadhab Nodal High School in Kantilo. For several years, the school has lacked teachers in key subjects like Hindi, Science, and Arts, as well as a headmaster. This has adversely impacted the academic environment and created multiple administrative challenges.
According to sources, the school, located under Khandapada block, currently has 286 students. Yet, since 2005, the post of Science (PCM) teacher has been vacant. Additionally, the Hindi teacher post has remained vacant for eight years, and the Arts teacher position has been unfilled for the past two years.
Due to the absence of subject teachers, students are being deprived of quality education. While the state government has introduced various schemes to improve education in schools, this institution remains neglected. Despite being established in 1951, the school’s critical teaching posts remain unfilled, raising questions among the local community.
The school’s in-charge headmaster Prashant Kumar Barik acknowledged the problem, confirming that the vacancies in Science, Hindi, and Arts have created a serious teaching gap.
Dr. Arjun Sahu, President of the Mo School Abhiyan, along with parents, have demanded immediate filling of these posts.
Contacted on the issue, Nayagarh District Education Officer (DEO) Chitta Ranjan Panda stated that efforts are underway to fill the teacher vacancies, and necessary steps will be taken soon.
