Tata Power Unveils ‘Suraksha Kavach’ Digital Safety Shield in Odisha

Bhubaneswar,28th Aug 2025: Reaffirming its commitment to safety and operational excellence, Tata Power-led Odisha Discoms have launched a transformational digital solution called ‘Suraksha Kavach’.

This technology-driven safety framework is set to redefine how High Tension (HT) network operations are carried out across Odisha by integrating the Permit to Work (PTW) system within a robust digital structure, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols.

Key Highlights of Suraksha Kavach:

A comprehensive tool combining safety and operations for power distribution activities.

Every HT line operation requires a digital permit through this platform, embedding safety checks into daily workflows.

Features include embedded equipment database, pre-mapped approvals, mandatory safety checklists, and real-time communication via SMS and WhatsApp.

Consumers will receive accurate real-time updates about power supply disruptions and quality through linkage with the Discom’s website.

Supports planned and unplanned maintenance, ensuring faster restoration, reduced downtime, and more reliable supply.

The initiative not only strengthens operational modernization but also enhances employee and consumer safety. By enabling data-driven decision-making, transparency, and accountability, Suraksha Kavach emerges as a scalable model for the entire power distribution sector in India.

Officials said the solution would lead to faster fault rectification, reduced outages, improved reliability, and higher consumer satisfaction across Odisha.
