Tamil Nadu Stampede Tragedy: Death Toll Climbs to 39

Tamil Nadu, 3rd Oct 2025:  The death toll in the stampede incident in   Karur, Tamil Nadu, has risen to 39. 95 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals, with several in critical condition. The tragic incident occurred during a TV rally organized by South star Vijay. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed deep sorrow over the incident. He announced ₹10 lakh ex-gratia for the families of the deceased and Rs1 lakh for those injured. The Chief Minister personally visited Karur and met the families of the victims to offer condolences. He stated that such an incident has never happened before in any political rally in the state. A commission of inquiry, led by a retired judge, has been formed to investigate the tragedy.
