Malkangiri:Feb, 14: Tamadu Khara is a well-known face at the Malkangiri main bus stand. People highly appreciate him for his good behavior. By profession, Tamadu works as a helper/porter (khalasi) and earns his livelihood by doing loading and unloading work at the bus stand to support his family. Even though one of his legs is impaired, he performs all his duties properly. With whatever he earns each day, he manages to run his family comfortably.
Another admirable quality of this kind-hearted man is his love for birds. Before he arrives at the bus stand every morning, hundreds of birds wait for him. From pigeons and sparrows to crows — many birds gather there. Tamadu regularly feeds them and distributes food according to their needs. The moment he calls them, hundreds of birds flock around him. The scene is very heartwarming, and birds can even be seen eating food directly from his hands. Though Tamadu is a khalasi by profession, his love for birds has earned him widespread praise among the public.
