Malkangiri, 26th Sept 2025: Due to the prompt intervention of District Collector Somesh Kumar Upadhyay, a child suffering from severe clubfoot has undergone successful surgery at SCB Medical College, Cuttack.
While on a field visit to Korukonda block, the Collector noticed Anurag Madkami, a 7-year-old Koya tribal child from Tandapali village under Tamsa Gram Panchayat, who was suffering from a curved (clubbed) left foot. Anurag is a student at Tandapali Primary Upper Primary School.
Upon learning about his condition, the Collector immediately instructed the Health Department to ensure that Anurag received complete treatment free of cost under the National Child Health Programme.
Following the directive, pharmacist Ranjan Kumar Bhuyan from the Health Department coordinated the child’s travel to Cuttack along with his family on September 22.
Today, Anurag successfully underwent clubfoot surgery at SCB Medical College and is expected to recover soon, according to sources.
Overwhelmed by this life-changing support, Anurag’s father, Muka Madkami, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the District Collector, saying his child has received a new life.
It is noteworthy that Anurag’s surgery was conducted completely free of cost under the RBSK (Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram) scheme.
