Koraput, 6th Aug 2025: Joint raids were conducted on various hotels, fast food outlets, and general stores in the Semiliguda town area of Koraput district by officials from the Food Safety Department, Revenue Department, Municipality, and Police.
During the inspections, a significant amount of stale paneer, chicken, dal from several hotels and expired food items like mushrooms, paneer, curd, soft drinks, bottled water, and gutkha from grocery shops were seized.
Hotels were found preparing food in unhygienic environments, and the quality of food items was thoroughly checked.
A total fine of ₹33,000 was collected from over 10 shop owners, and two shops were sealed. Additionally, some shops were penalized with ₹1,400 fines for not having valid food and trade licenses.
It is worth mentioning that complaints about substandard food quality in several hotels had surfaced in the media a few days ago.
The raid was carried out by Food Safety Officer Prabhas Kumar Sethi, Semiliguda Tehsildar Debata Baburao Karati, Municipal Tax Officer K.V. Rao, and Semiliguda Police Station ASI Biranchi Narayan Banua, along with other officials from the food, revenue, police, and municipal departments.
