Sambalpur: The Subhadra Shakti Mela has commenced at Birsa Munda Ground in Ainthapali, Sambalpur. Over 150 stalls have been set up, showcasing products made by Self-Help Groups (SHGs) from across the state. This event, which will continue until the 11th of this month, was inaugurated today by the District Collector, Siddheshwar Baliram Bondar.
During the inauguration, the District Collector stated that organizing the Subhadra Shakti Mela is a matter of pride for Sambalpur district. It provides a platform for women’s Self-Help Groups to sell their handmade and locally produced goods. The fair features exhibitions and sales of handicrafts created by artisans, millet-based products, organic items, and traditional foods.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Additional District Collector Sudhanshu Kumar Bhoi, District Chief Development Officer Prasanna Kumar Patra, and District Social Welfare Officer Renubala Nanda, among others. There is visible excitement among the general public regarding the event.
With over 150 stalls, visitors can explore and purchase traditional foods and various handcrafted items. This fair offers a valuable opportunity for women entrepreneurs to showcase their skills and entrepreneurial spirit. Currently, the district has around 2.6 lakh Subhadra beneficiaries. On the 8th of this month (International Women’s Day), the government will release the second installment of financial assistance directly into their bank accounts.
This week-long fair will see participation from various Self-Help Groups, producer groups, and weavers from different districts across the state, making it a diverse and vibrant marketplace.
