Bhubaneswar: Student Union elections in universities and colleges across Odisha are likely to be held on September 25 or 26, even though an official notification is yet to be issued. The Higher Education Department is preparing a roadmap for conducting the elections statewide on a single day.
A formal notification regarding the elections is expected to be published by September 15 or 16 at the university and college levels.
As per the proposed schedule:
Aspiring candidates can file their nomination papers between 9 AM and 12 PM on September 17 or 18.
The scrutiny of nominations will be completed by 4 PM on the same day.
The list of valid candidates will be published on September 18 or 19 at 11 AM.
Candidates can withdraw their nominations between 2 PM and 4 PM on the same day.
The final list of candidates will be announced at 5 PM.
The department is also considering a proposal to increase the campaign expenditure limit for candidates.
On September 24, or a day prior to voting, all educational institutions will host a “Why I am a Candidate” session within their campuses to allow candidates to present their vision.
Voting is expected to be conducted on September 25 or 26, from 8 AM to 2 PM, followed by vote counting from 2 PM onwards, with results likely to be declared the same evening or by 11 AM on September 27.
