Cuttack, 28th Oct 2025: During Bali Jatra, visitors will get to experience a glimpse of art, culture, and literature. Everyone will learn about the Odia language, literature, and timeless books. The festival will also highlight folk traditions of Odia households and local culture.
This year, the main attraction is being set up at “Cuttack in Cuttack”, a newly designed pavilion. Green-colored artistic decorations are being added, and some students have taken the responsibility of creating intricate art pieces. A few selected students have been assigned this task this year. Around eight students from Bibhuti Kanungo Charu and Fine Arts College, Bhubaneswar, are engaged in preparing these artworks. They are presenting painting and craft inspired by Odia literature.
Statues made of various forms of foam, including the Konark temple wheel, have been crafted. Along with other small exhibits, these fine craftsmanship pieces by the students will enhance the visual appeal of this year’s Bali Jatra.
Six Boats to Sail in the Mahanadi
The main boat along with six additional boats will sail in the Mahanadi. Approximately 50% of the work on the boats has been completed. The remaining six are being made of foam and will sail for nine days in the Mahanadi. Two more boats will be shaped like frogs. These boats will be floated during the Bali Jatra river event.
Statues of the Six Great Scholars and the President
The pavilion will feature statues of six eminent scholars, including poet Sarala, Das Byas, Fakir Mohan Senapati, poet Samrat Upendra Bhanja, and others. The statue of President Draupadi Murmu will also be displayed at “Cuttack in Cuttack”.
Konark Wheel at the Entrance
A Konark wheel will adorn the main entrance of the “Cuttack in Cuttack” pavilion. While the structure is ready, detailed artistic work is still in progress. Two main entry paths have been arranged for visitors, and around nine sales zones will be set up along the paths.
Independent Corporate Pavilion
This year, an independent corporate pavilion has been opened in the lower part of the Bali Jatra grounds, starting from Gadkhai-Gada Road. Various sponsors and local business owners have been allotted space. Last year, the same area was used for parties, but now it has been organized with official stalls for the event.
