Nuapada: With the upcoming Matriculation Board Examination, a review was underway regarding the 66 students appearing for the exam. During this process, it was discovered that a student from Nuapada Government Girls’ High School had traveled to Uttar Pradesh and was working in a brick kiln. However, following intervention by the school headmaster, she was successfully rescued.
After the incident was reported in the Sambad newspaper, the brick kiln owner released the student. Today, the school authorities visited her village and discussed the matter with her family. The village is now filled with joy and relief.
The headmaster, along with fellow teachers, initially went to the student Kavita’s house but did not find her there. They learned that she had traveled to Uttar Pradesh with her father through a labor contractor to work as a bonded laborer in a brick kiln. Upon hearing this, Headmaster Madhusudan Sahu immediately called Kavita, offering to cover her travel expenses if she returned home.
The news was published in Sambad, and after continuous follow-up, the brick kiln owner eventually released Kavita. On Tuesday night, she and her father boarded a train back to Odisha, reaching home on Wednesday afternoon.
On receiving confirmation of her return, Headmaster Sahu and his colleagues went to Bhoisadarha village and met Kavita. Overwhelmed with joy, he welcomed her back and assured her of continued support in her studies.
Kavita, daughter of Kholaban Mirdha, is a 10th-grade student at Nuapada Government Girls’ High School and resides in the school hostel. She had gone home during the holidays but had not returned. With her Matric exams approaching, the headmaster’s timely intervention ensured her safe return.
