Bhubaneswar: Police stations must treat complainants with respect, register FIRs (First Information Reports) properly, and discuss the incident details. Otherwise, strict action will be taken against the concerned officers.

During the inauguration of the new Nayapalli Police Station building, the Chief Minister shared an incident from his time as an MLA, explaining how he had once faced harassment from the police.

42 Crore Spent on 14 New Police Station Buildings in Odisha

The Odisha Police Department has inaugurated 14 newly constructed police station buildings, built at a total cost of ₹42 crore. These new stations also include ramps for differently-abled individuals to ensure accessibility.

The Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi, has directed the DGP (Director General of Police) to take strict action against police officers who mistreat the public. On Friday, while inaugurating these 14 police station buildings, he advised police officers to change their behavior and ensure that people visiting the station receive justice and respect.

He issued a warning that any officer who does not listen to the people will face disciplinary action.

The Chief Minister also recalled a personal experience from 2019, when he was an MLA and a police officer at Keonjhar IIC (Inspector In-Charge) misbehaved with him, even telling him to “Get out”. Citing this incident, he emphasized that police behavior must improve and that officers should serve the common people, not act under external pressure.
