Strict Action Against Traffic Violators: Licenses to Be Cancelled, Heavy Fines Imposed

Nabarangpur,3rd Nov 2025: A district-level road safety committee meeting was held on Thursday at the Ashok Meheta Auditorium in Nabarangpur under the chairmanship of District Collector Maheshwar Swain. Key attendees included SP Sandeep Sampad, CDMO Santosh Kumar Panda, and Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Jitendra Kumar Bhoy. The meeting was conducted according to the RTO’s briefing.

As per government instructions, from 1st to 15th November, various road safety programs will be implemented in the district under the campaign “Zero Accidents, Prevent Fatalities.”

Topics Discussed in the Meeting:

  • Driving under the influence of alcohol
  • Not wearing helmets or seat belts
  • Driving without a valid license
  • Carrying passengers in goods vehicles
  • Overspeeding
  • Violating traffic rules
  • It was decided that violators will face fines and cancellation of their driving licenses.

To achieve the goal of zero accidents and prevent fatalities, departments including Transport, Police, Health, National Highways, Roads & Building, Education, Urban Development, and OSRTC will work jointly. The District Collector also instructed municipal officials to remove stray animals such as cattle from national and state highways. The RTO was directed to take strict action, including fines, against illegally parked vehicles on national highways.

The meeting was attended by all members of the District Road Safety Committee, R&B officials, NH executive engineers, DIPRO, municipal officials, private bus owners’ associations, and truck owners’ association
