State-Level School Group Sports Festival Celebrated with Great Enthusiasm

Umerkote, 22nd Oct 2025:  The 69th State-Level School Group Badminton and Sepak Takraw Competition was held at the Biju Patnaik Stadium in Umerkote. The event was presided over by District Education Officer Chhatrapati Sahu.

Key dignitaries present at the event included:

Lipika Baroi, Vice-Chairperson of the District Council (Zilla Parishad)

Radha Bhatra, Chairperson of Umerkote Municipality

Ramakrishna Nayak, representative of the local MP

Dr. Santosh Kumar Panda, Chief District Medical Officer

Palaka Rabindra, District Welfare Officer

Keshab Meher, Additional District Education Officer

Jyoti Prasad Parida, Assistant Physical Education Director

Prabhat Pattnaik, District Physical Education Officer

Chittaranjan Pattnaik, District Science Supervisor

Asim Biswas, Headmaster of the local Girls’ High School
… and several other dignitaries were present on the stage.

It was appreciated that such a prestigious state-level event was hosted in a remote region like Umerkote. Assistant Sports Director Mr. Parida presented the event details.

Badminton (Under-14 Boys):

Champions: Dhenkanal

Runners-up: Jajpur

Badminton (Under-14 Girls):

Champions: Balasore

Runners-up: Dhenkanal

Badminton (Under-17 Boys):

Champions: Sambalpur

Runners-up: Sundargarh

Sepak Takraw (Under-17 Boys):

Champions: Bhubaneswar

Runners-up: Bhadrak

Sepak Takraw (Under-17 Girls):

Champions: Bhubaneswar

Runners-up: Nabarangpur

All winners and runners-up were awarded trophies and certificates by the invited guests.

The stage program was anchored by Naresh Chandra Pattnaik (Headmaster) and Niranjan Satapathy (Teacher). The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Meher.

On this occasion, Badri Narayan Biswal, a headmaster, was honored for his selection to participate in the National-Level Science Fair.

All sports teachers, CRCCs, and headmasters from the block extended their cooperation for the successful organization of the event.
